Middlesbrough striker Uche Ikpeazu has emerged as a target for Rotherham United, it has been claimed by Darren Witcoop.
Rotherham United are gearing up for life back in the Championship after last season’s promotion from League One. However, before embarking on the new campaign, Paul Warne faces the tough task of replacing talisman Michael Smith.
The striker has left the club upon the expiry of his contract to join Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday.
The Millers have already recruited Conor Washington and Tom Eaves, meaning Warne already has four striking options along with Joshua Kayode and Georgie Kelly. However, it has now been claimed another striker is on the club’s radar.
Reporter Witcoop has said on Twitter that Middlesbrough man Ikpeazu is a target for Rotherham United, though there are ‘a host of other clubs’ also interested.

What next for Ikpeazu?
Ugandan striker Ikpeazu only joined Middlesbrough last summer and after scoring two goals and providing an assist in his first three Championship games for the club, he looked on course to enjoy a successful season at the Riverside.
However, he fell down the pecking order and ended up heading on loan to Cardiff City.
He also enjoyed a strong start with the Bluebirds, scoring in both of his first two games. The vast majority of his game time came as a substitute though and he fell out of favour under Steve Morison.
Now he returns to Middlesbrough with his future uncertain heading into the new campaign. He has interest in his services from Rotherham United and other clubs, it is claimed, so it remains to be seen where he is playing his football come the start of the season.
