Sheffield United, Blackburn Rovers face stiff competition in transfer battle as European giants enter chase

Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers target Anel Ahmedhodzic is now drawing interest from European giants AC Milan and LOSC Lille, Yorkshire Live has claimed.

Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers have both been mentioned as contenders in the chase for the Bosnian defender.

The Blades’ interest has been more widely reported with The Star saying only this morning (Thursday) that the club were waiting for the loan-to-buy clause in Bordeaux’s loan deal for Ahmedhodzic to be removed by Malmo before they push on with their pursuit.

However now, it has emerged that the Championship pair could face stiff competition for Ahmedhodzic.

Yorkshire Live claims that Italian giants AC Milan and 2020/21 Ligue 1 winners LOSC Lille are among those to register their interest.

The link comes after Sven Botman’s departure from Lille to Premier League side Newcastle United. The Dutchman has been a key player for Christophe Galtier’s men and was also a target for AC Milan.

So while Lille need a replacement, AC need to turn their attention to a new target.

A mark of his ability…

While news of interest from such prestigious sides like AC Milan and Lille may dent Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers‘ bid for Ahmedhodzic, it’s a mark of just how highly-rated the defender is.

It also shows that both clubs are hoping to be ambitious in their recruitment this summer, something both sets of fans will like.

Ahmedhodzic is a talented defender that certainly possesses the ability to play at a higher level. Much of his career to date has been spent in Sweden but with interest growing, he may well get the chance to test himself at a new club sooner rather than later.
