Barnsley‘s out of contract midfielder Romal Palmer is in talks over a move to Goztepe SK, Football Insider has claimed.
Barnsley‘s relegation to League One means players will be heading for pastures new this summer.
Cauley Woodrow, Isaac Christie-Davies and Patrick Schmidt have already been sold, while George Miller, Aapo Halme and Daniel Jinadu will be moving on when their respective deals at Oakwell expire.
Another player out of contract is midfielder Palmer, and it has now been claimed he is in talks with a new club.
The 23-year-old is said to be in advanced talks over a move to Turkey with Goztepe SK. Football Insider states the Tykes academy graduate is poised to move on when his deal runs out and a switch to the recently relegated Goz Goz is in the offing.
Palmer looks set to leave Barnsley after over six years with the club. He joined as a youngster from Manchester City’s youth academy on a free transfer and looks poised to move on for nothing for the second time in his career.
The right time to move on?
With his deal up, it seems the right time has come for Palmer to head for pastures new.
The midfielder emerged from the youth ranks as a promising talent at Oakwell and at 23, he still has plenty of time to maximise his potential and forge a successful career in the game.
However, his performances towards the end of the 2021/22 campaign drew plenty of criticism from supporters.
It could be best for him to head for a fresh start after 77 appearances in his six years on the books with Barnsley.
