Latest QPR news: R’s linked with Millwall man, youngster earns contract extension + more

QPR have had a quiet week in the transfer window as we enter July and close in on the start of the 2022/23 season.

Player contracts officially come to an end today and so clubs across the Football League will surely be plotting some transfer swoops from tomorrow onwards.

And expect QPR boss Michael Beale to have some new players in his sights after a quiet week on the R’s transfer front.

Kenneth Paal and Jake Clarke-Salter remain the club’s only signings of the summer so far but one player being linked with a potential move to west London is Millwall’s Dan McNamara.

Reports claim that QPR want the Lions right-back this summer, after his impressive season in the Championship last time round.

Elsewhere, QPR youngster Murphy Mahoney has penned a contract extension with the club.

The 20-year-old was rushed into the first-team last season when the R’s saw a number of their first-team goalkeepers pick up injuries.

Mahoney featured twice in the Championship and has this week earned a contract extension until 2024.

Lastly, a number of QPR players will report back for pre-season training for the first time over the coming days, as per a report from the club’s official website.

Seny Dieng, Lyndon Dykes, Osman Kakay and Ilias Chair will all return to pre-season training with the R’s after long-haul seasons for the international players.

Beale’s summer preparations have been moving along at a steady pace so far. Fans will be hopeful of seeing some new faces come though the doors next month though, with the R’s bound to have a testing first season under their new boss.

QPR’s first Championship fixture of the 2022/23 campaign is away at Blackburn Rovers on July 30th.
