A report from BirminghamLive says there is ‘no chance’ of Terrell Thomas heading to Birmingham City this summer.
Thomas, 24, is set to become a free agent ahead of Reading contract expiry tomorrow.
He defender featured just twice in the Championship for the Royals last season having spent time on loan with Crewe Alexandra in the first half of the campaign.
A recent report from BerkshireLive has suggested that Birmingham City are among a number of clubs keen on the Englishman, but a contrasting report from BirminghamLive has refuted the link.
Derby County are the other team said to be ‘leading the race’ to sign Thomas this summer and so Blues’ removal from this transfer hunt could be a blessing for the Rams.
It’s been reported that the Rams could see their long-awaited takeover saga come to an end today with David Clowes said to be nearing the completion of their takeover.
Better times ahead…
Both Birmingham City and Derby have been involved in takeover talks this summer. The Rams’ takeover is obviously more pressing though and Clowes’ takeover is set to bring an end to almost a year of uncertainty for the Midlands club.
And with it, the Rams could soon start to make some much-needed signings ahead of their 2022/23 League One campaign, and Thomas could become a keen signing for Derby County.
He’s struggled with form and injury over the past few seasons but remains a young footballer with plenty of potential.
Thomas would be a really useful option for Derby County in defence given his versatility across the back-line, but plenty more free agent signings are needed if the club are to compete in the third tier next time round.
