Out of favour Swansea City man drawing interest from League One club

Swansea City‘s out of favour midfielder Liam Walsh is attracting attention from an unnamed League One club, Wales Online has said.

The 24-year-old Swansea City midfielder has struggled to make an impact in South Wales since arriving last summer.

He joined from fellow Championship side Bristol City on a free transfer and looked to be a shrewd addition. However, he only has seven first-team appearances to his name for the Swans and spent the second half of last season on loan with Hull City, where he also struggled to impress.

Walsh is among the players that Russell Martin is willing to let go of this summer and now, Wales Online has provided the latest on his situation.

It is claimed that an unnamed League One club is showing interest in the Huyton-born midfielder.

The report eludes mentioning the identity of the interested party, though it is said that Walsh is among the Swansea City players the club have received ‘tentative enquiries’ for this summer.

Time for a fresh start?

After a difficult time in South Wales, it seems it would be best for all parties if Walsh finds a new club this summer.

He previously flourished in a spell with Coventry City and his age, he still has plenty of time to get back on track and maximise his potential. However, he doesn’t fit in Martin’s plans at Swansea City, so a move away to play regular football seems best.

The Swans will be able to fetch a fee for Walsh given that he still has two years remaining on his contract with the club too. That will give them the chance to reinvest the money received for the midfielder in other areas.
