Nathan Jones makes admission over immediate futures of Luton Town trio

Luton Town boss Nathan Jones has stated that the door could open for Elliot Thorpe, Dion Pereira and Josh Neufville to leave the club on loan this summer.

Luton Town have already been active in the transfer window, with three new additions coming in while four have headed for pastures new.

Kal Naismith, Danny Hylton, Peter Kioso and Elliot Lee have all made permanent moves away from Kenilworth Road, but there could be some temporary exits this summer too.

Hatters boss Jones has admitted that young trio Thorpe, Pereira and Neufville could yet head out on loan this summer.

As quoted by Luton Today, Jones spoke of the work going on to strengthen their U23s group and the desire to embed a ‘clear way of thinking’ throughout the club. He states that in doing that, some young players will stay on board, but the aforementioned trio could head out.

Here’s what he had to say:

“Dion Pereira may need a loan, Elliot Thorpe may need a loan. Josh Neufville, we’ve had a lot of interest in him.

“But, if they don’t go out then they’ll be in and around our group and get game time in the 23s as well.”

The next step…

All of Thorpe, Pereira and Neufville will be hoping the 2022/23 campaign can see them make strides towards Jones’ first-team.

However, senior game time could be best for their development at this point, and if they won’t get that at Kenilworth Road, loan moves could be favourable.

Pereira, 23, is at the age where he will surely have his eyes on consistent senior game time. He has picked up action with the Hatters, Atlanta United and out on loan with Yeovil Town and Bradford City already.

As for Thorpe, he made his senior debut in the FA Cup against Cambridge United earlier this year. The 21-year-old played plenty of youth football with Spurs, notching up 21 appearances for their U23s.

Neufville, also 21, has played four times for Luton Town and has played senior football with Yeovil Town, Solihull Moors and Woking, though he has struggled for goals since making the step up to first-team football.
