Burnley FC transfers, Kompany’s next Burnley signings revealed after McNally capture

Kompany’s next Burnley signings revealed after McNally capture

Burnley are ‘set to complete’ the signings of Manchester City duo Taylor Harwood-Bellis and CJ Egan-Riley this week, claims a report from Manchester Evening News.

Burnley have enjoyed a strong start to life under ex-Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany.

The Belgian kick-start his tenure with the impressive capture of Scott Twine from MK Dons, before then bringing in Luke McNally from Oxford United.

And it looks like City pair Harwood-Bellis and Egan-Riley will be the Burnley boss’ next acquisitions.

An emerging report from Manchester Evening News has revealed hat Harwood-Bellis, 20, is set to join on a season-long loan after spending time with Kompany at Anderlecht last season, but that Egan-Riley, 19, is set for a permanent move to Turf Moor.

Harwood-Bellis looks like a promising young player and someone who City hold in high-regards. This will be his fourth loan move away from City having previously spent time in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers in the 2020/21 season, and then Stoke City in the second half of last season.

Egan-Riley meanwhile made his Premier League debut for Manchester City back in May. He’s never had a loan spell away from the club and so his move to Burnley will be a great opportunity for him to gain some experience – Manchester Evening News have revealed that Burnley and Manchester City have agreed a compensation fee for the signing, and that it will be confirmed when his Manchester City contract expires later this week.

A strong summer…

Burnley fans should have optimism for the next season under Kompany. His appointment took a while to go through but he’s wasted no time in putting his own stamp on the playing squad.

His name was always going to attract players this summer and his City connections were always going to be utilised.

Burnley look to have a really rounded and exciting squad, not only for next season but for the future – Kompany could yet guide the Clarets back to the Premier League and help them become more sustainable in the top flight than they were before.
