Hartlepool United in talks with League Two rivals over potential striker exit

Newport County are in talks over a deal to sign Hartlepool United striker Omar Bogle, journalist Pete O’Rourke has reported.

Hartlepool United boss Paul Hartley is looking to make his mark on the squad at Victoria Park this summer.

He has wasted no time in bringing some fresh faces in following his appointment, with Euan Murray, Reghan Tumilty, Alex Lacey, Jake Hastie, Mouhamed Niang and Kyle Letheren all joining the Pools. A host of players have left the club as well and now, it has been claimed talks are taking place over a possible departure for striker Bogle.

Journalist O’Rourke has said that League Two rivals Newport County are in talks with Hartlepool United over a deal for the forward.

Bogle only joined the club in January after a difficult stint with Doncaster Rovers and has six goals in 22 appearances to his name. He still has two years remaining on his contract in the North East too.

In need of a striker…

Newport County will be in the market for a new goalscorer ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

The Exiles have lost star forward Dom Telford, with the striker completing a move to Crawley Town after a stunning campaign at Rodney Parade. Courtney Baker-Richardson, Padraig Among, Ryan Hillier and Alex Fisher are all heading for pastures new too.

Even with the signings of Offrande Zanzala and Chanka Zimba, another addition or two at the top of the pitch wouldn’t go amiss.

Though Bogle has struggled for consistency in recent years, he has previously proven to be a nuisance for League Two clubs and would be an intriguing option for the Exiles this summer.
