Italian outfit Salernitana are in advanced negotiations to sign Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz, according to reports in Italy.
Brereton Diaz, 23, was bound to attract serious transfer interest this summer.
The Chilean international scored 22 goals in 37 Championship outings for Blackburn Rovers last season whilst also making his mark on the international stage.
He’s been linked with a number of Premier League clubs and a number of top flight clubs overseas too.
But now, Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio (via Football Italia) claims that Salernitana are in advanced talks to sign the striker, with the club’s ‘director of sport’ Morgan de Sanctis currently in London to try and close the deal.

Salernitana narrowly avoided relegation from the Italian Serie A last season, finishing one point and one place above the drop zone.
They have some notable player in their side, with one being former Bayern Munich and France legend Franck Ribery.
The right move for Brereton Diaz?
Brereton Diaz has plenty of options this summer, and just because Salernitana’s director of sport is in the UK to try and push through a deal for Brereton Diaz, does not necessarily mean that the Blackburn man is heading to the club.
And a move to the Spanish top flight seems a more likely outcome for Brereton Diaz at this moment in time – he plays for the Chilean national side and at first, he didn’t speak any Spanish, so it seems a strange one that he’d now join an Italian side and try to learn two new languages at the same time.
But the club might be putting together an attractive proposal for the striker and he himself may fancy a move to Italy.
Either way, it seems likely that the striker will be leaving Ewood Park this summer, and he should pocket Blackburn Rovers a decent sum in the process.
