Latest West Brom news: Bruce’s transfer plans, youngster facing uncertain summer + more

West Brom have now made two really keen signings this summer, in John Swift and Jed Wallace.

But Baggies boss Steve Bruce is expecting more.

He was recently quizzed on how many more new signings fans can expect to see this summer and he told BirminghamLive:

“I would expect three or four before we kick off the season.”

Elsewhere, it’s thought that Bruce wants to bring in another striker. BirminghamLive say that it’s ‘understood’ Bruce wants another striker to ‘complement’ Daryl Dike, who is set to be the Baggies’ main striker next season.

Express and Star also reveal that the Baggies are keen on signing a full-back and a central midfielder this summer.

Meanwhile, young West Brom goalkeeper Josh Griffiths has recently been linked with a loan move to Portsmouth. But Bruce says that a decisions is yet to be made, telling Express and Star:

“With Josh it’s difficult. At this moment in time, do you let him push with the other two, or do you try and find a progression because he’s played over the last couple of years.

“We’ll see what develops because what’s best for him is crucial.”

Lastly, West Brom will be letting Andy Carroll leave at the end of his contract this week and the striker has been linked with a surprise move to Club Brugge.

But it’s been revealed that the Belgian side have turned down the chance to sign Carroll.

West Brom have made some strong signings so far this summer but Bruce knows he’ll need a few more if his side are to really compete in the Championship next season, with a top-six finish the aim.

Next month should be a busy one for clubs in England with contracts coming to an end later this week, and players set to officially become free agents.
