Key Norwich City man has a ‘desire to play as high as possible’, says agent

Teemu Pukki’s agent has revealed that the Finn wants to ‘play as high as possible’, following Norwich City’s relegation from the Premier League.

Pukki scored an impressive 11 goals in the Premier League last season.

He now has 78 Norwich City goals in 167 appearances in all competitions, but after a second relegation from the Premier League with the Canaries, Pukki could now be on his way out.

Eastern Daily Press says that Pukki is ‘interesting teams at home and on the continent’ following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

And now the player’s agent – Teemu Turunen – has hinted that Pukki may be looking for the exit door this summer.

He told Finnish media outlet MTV Urheilun (via Eastern Daily Press):

“It is not the optimal situation that the club is in the Championship. That’s clear.

“Negotiations are going on all the time. It is then a different matter whether it leads to anything.”

The Norwich City players returned for pre-season testing two days ago. The player are gearing up for what looks set to be a tough Championship campaign with a lot of teams making some really positive strides in this summer’s transfer window.

And for Dean Smith, keeping hold of Pukki for the upcoming season will be key – he scored 26 Championship goals during Norwich City’s title-winning 2020/21 campaign.

But Turunen went on to suggest that Pukki may see his future away from Carrow Road, saying:

“The starting point is that Teemu will go back to Norwich for the training season, but if something happens here before the end of August, I don’t know. Yes, Teemu has a desire to play as high as possible.”

Norwich’s slow summer…

So far, Norwich City’s only summer signing is the loan capture of Isaac Hayden from Newcastle United.

The club spent a lot of money last summer and so they might not have as much to spend this time round, and Smith’s agenda might be focused more towards offloading and/or keeping certain names.

The likes of Max Aarons and perhaps Pukki could be on their way out and the loss of either would be a blow for the Canaries.

But the potential loss of Pukki would be a real blow given his track record at Championship level and his important within this Norwich City side.

After four seasons at Carrow Road though, it might be time for Pukki to explore pastures new.
