Latest Burnley news: Clarets keen on Rotherham United man, fee agreed for L1 ace + more

Burnley completed the signing of Scott Twine over the weekend, with reports suggesting that more are set to follow.

Vincent Kompany’s Burnley era has started with the impressive capture of Twine.

The Clarets paid a reported £4million for the youngster and the club were ready to spend £2million on Arsenal’s Dan Ballard.

But an emerging report from The Athletic says the move has broken down after Ballard and Burnley couldn’t agree terms.

It’s certainly a blow for Kompany. But he looks to have another promising young defender on his radar in Oxford United’s Luke McNally.

The 23-year-old has recently been linked with a move to Turf Moor and Football Insider claimed yesterday that Burnley have agreed a £1.6million fee with Oxford United for McNally.

And in another exciting transfer rumour, Burnley are said to be leading the race to sign Rotherham United’s Ben Wiles.

The midfielder racked up 15 goal contributions for the Millers last season, helping them on their way to promotion to the Championship, and now LancsLive say that the Clarets are leading the race for his signature.

Lastly, Alan Nixon revealed on his Patreon account yesterday that Wolves are keen on Burnley right-back Connor Roberts.

The Welshman featured 21 times in the Premier League last season following his move from Swansea City and Wolves could now hand him a Premier League lifeline this summer.

So there’s plenty of transfer activity going on at Turf Moor. Kompany’s arrival has seemingly sparked a transfer frenzy and the club could end up making some really impressive signings before the start of the new season, and they could quickly emerge as title challengers under the ex-Manchester City man.
