4 Sheffield United players linked with departures ahead of July including ‘brilliant’ starlet

Sheffield United will be hoping to mount another promotion push next season after losing out in the Championship play-offs last time around.

Paul Heckingbottom’s first summer transfer window in charge of Sheffield United is underway. New additions will be in their sights, but some could be heading in the opposite direction out of Bramall Lane this summer too.

Among those linked with a switch away from Sheffield United this summer is forward Oli Burke.

The Scotsman’s career has faltered since an eye-catching breakthrough at Nottingham Forest but he enjoyed a successful loan spell with Millwall over the second half of last season. The Lions have since been reported to be pursuing a permanent deal for the versatile attacker, and a summer move could be beneficial for all parties.

George Baldock has also been subject of interest from elsewhere. Greek giants Olympiacos are said to have identified him as a target.

However, he was on their shortlist alongside Huddersfield Town’s Pipa, who has since agreed to join the club, so they may not need to add the Sheffield United right-back anymore.

Another mentioned as one who could move on is goalkeeper Jake Eastwood, who is a target for Scottish Premiership side Ross County ahead of the new season.

The 25-year-old has been with the Blades from a young age but only has three senior appearances for the club to his name. He’s at the age where he may well want to settle and play regular senior football, so a switch to Dingwall could be ideal for him.

Finally, young centre-back Kacper Lopata is among the EFL talents still on Southend United’s transfer radar. The Polish youth international impressed at Roots Hall, with manager Kevin Maher labelling him as “brilliant” during his time with the club.

If a first-team chance doesn’t present itself at Bramall Lane, another temporary move could be best for Lopata’s development.

It’s early days in the window yet, but it could prove to be a fruitful one for Sheffield United ahead of the new campaign.
