Coventry City finished in 12th place of the Championship last season.
It was a hugely commendable finish for Mark Robins’ side who continue to progress under his watch.
This summer, the club looks set to make some more shrewd acquisitions having already brought in Kasey Palmer.
But there could also be one or two key departures from the club this summer, and here we look at the names who’ve recently been linked with moves away from Coventry City.
Coventry City’s star man last season was Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish international scored 17 goals in the Championship and he’s since been linked with a move away, with the likes of Fulham and Middlesbrough being mooted as possible destinations.
Earlier this month, Football Insider revealed that Middlesbrough had had an approach for Gyokeres knocked back by Coventry City, and the striker himself spoke out on his future, saying that he has ‘no idea’ if he’ll be with the Sky Blues next season (via Inside Futbol).
Another big potential departee from Coventry City this summer could be Gustavo Hamer.
The Dutchman put in another impressive shift last season and he’s had a number of Premier League suitors throughout this summer, with Fulham the latest club being linked.
Yesterday, The Sun revealed that Fulham are pushing to bring Hamer to Craven Cottage this summer ahead of their return to the Premier League.
Hamer featured 39 times in the Championship last season, scoring three and assisting nine whilst becoming even more of a favourite among fans and Robins, who said of Hamer back in December:
“You never want to take him off unless he’s injured or wants to come off because he’s feeling something or tired, or whatever.
“We all know his quality and he’s important, as is everyone else. But he’s a special player.”
Lastly, another Coventry City man to be linked with a move away recently is Tyler Walker.
The striker was sent out on loan to Portsmouth for the second half of last season but failed to make an impression, with Robins recently revealing that he and Walker have had a ‘frank’ discussion about the striker’s future.
Bristol Rovers were linked with a potential loan move for Walker last month.
Lastly, Football Insider revealed over the weekend that Sky Blues defender Julian Da Costa is close to joining Shrewsbury Town on loan for the 2022/23 campaign.
