Bournemouth eyeing up cut-price move for Blackpool star

According to The Sun, Premier League new boys Bournemouth are plotting a cut-price swoop for Blackpool man Josh Bowler.

Bournemouth bounced back to the Premier League at the second time of asking and now are looking to rebuild.

However, Sun man Nixon is keen to point out that the Cherries will not be splashing the cash over the summer.

To that end, he adds that they are after Bowler. Nixon also says the Cherries are set to go in with a lowball offer of just £1 million.

This cheeky offer comes after – says Nixon – a £3 million offer made by Bournemouth for Bowler in January.

Set to test the water…

Bournemouth are thought to be tightening their belts. The Sun’s report says they are on the lookout for ‘loans and free agents‘ after they snapped up Blackburn Rovers’ departing star Joe Rothwell for nothing.

However, here with Bowler, they are looking to test the waters with a cut-price offer that some may see as cheeky.

Bowler came through the youth ranks at both Fulham and QPR before being snapped up by Everton in 2017 for their U23s.

After a loan spell at Hull City, Bowler left Everton and headed for Blackpool on a free transfer last July.

After a seven goals and three assists in last season’s Championship campaign for the Seasiders, Bournemouth see him as fit for the Premier League.

Ready to step up?

His time at Everton would obviously see him better prepared than some players for top-tier football.

Although he never made the first team, he will have benefitted from the higher level of coaching that Premier League clubs have at their disposal.

He blossomed at Bloomfield Road with Blackpool and a seven-goal, three-assist season cannot be discounted. Bournemouth will likely have done their homework on him and it seems as though they believe Bowler has what it takes.

A £1 million offer might be too lowball to land him, but if you don’t ask then you never get.

Should they manage to land him, it will be a loss that Blackpool will have to replace.
