Blackburn Rovers player drawing interest from German, Italian, French clubs

Blackburn Rovers forward Ben Brereton Diaz is attracting interest from Eintracht Frankfurt, Lyon and Salernitana, Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed.

Blackburn Rovers star Brereton Diaz was no stranger to transfer interest over the 2021/22 campaign.

His stunning form at Ewood Park combined with his rising stock as a Chilean superstar didn’t go unnoticed. Even after the goals dried up somewhat during Rovers’ drop in form and after a spell out injured, Brereton Diaz remains the club’s prized asset.

Now, with the transfer window open, the former Nottingham Forest man is attracting new interest from Europe.

Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt, French giants Lyon and Serie A side Salernitana are all interested in the Blackburn Rovers forward, a report from Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed this weekend.

It comes after Brereton Diaz’s 22 goals in 38 Championship games last season.

Time to cash in?

Blackburn Rovers are looking towards a promising future after naming Jon Dahl Tomasson as Tony Mowbray’s replacement.

With Gregg Broughton on board as director of football too, it is hoped that the Lancashire outfit can build on the strong foundation provided by Mowbray and cement their place towards the upper echelons of the Championship table.

Ideally, Brereton Diaz will be a key part of their bid to do just that.

However, the 23-year-old is out of contract next summer. A 12-month extension option meant he stayed beyond the end of this summer, but Rovers are currently at risk of losing him for nothing at the end of next season.

Cashing in now would be a blow as, obviously, the club would rather keep him. But losing him on a free transfer or on a cut-price deal in January won’t be an attractive prospect either. It remains to be seen how his situation pans out, but a decision will need to be made sooner rather than later.
