Sheffield United man expected to be out until October with knee injury

Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom has confirmed his side are set to be without defender Jayden Bogle for the start of the campaign, in an interview with The Star.

Sheffield United have been without Bogle since February, and he will continue to receive treatment after the season has started next month.

Blades boss Heckingbottom confirmed this to The Star when issuing an injury update on his squad, ahead of pre-season getting underway against Portuguese side Casa Pia in two weeks time.

Bogle had a tough time with injury earlier in the season too, often missing out on the matchday squad after picking up knocks.

When asked for an update on the progress of the right-back and whether he would feature in Sheffield United’s opening game against Watford on August 1st, Heckingbottom said: “Jayden will be a lot longer. The season will have started by the time he comes back.”

The 21-year-old joins striker trio Billy Sharp, Oli McBurnie, and Rhian Brewster on the treatment table. Although, the forwards are slightly ahead of Bogle in their rehabilitation and could play against the Hornets on the opening weekend.

In his absence, the likes of George Baldock, Ben Osborn, and Femi Seriki all filled the vacant right-back role. The three players will likely be rotated again next time out, but Heckingbottom will want Bogle back in the fold as soon as possible.

The report states that he will return around October, with coaching staff confirming he is to be out for another four months after undergoing knee surgery. There is the possibility of an earlier return, but this is of course dependent on his progress in training over the coming weeks and months.
