Taylor Harwood-Bellis is in advanced talks to join on loan and now Nixon has revealed that another young City defender in Egan-Riley is poised to join the Clarets for the upcoming 2022/23 campaign.

Kompany is set to welcome the 19-year-old – who made his Premier League debut for Manchester City in May – but Burnley weren’t the only side keen, with CoventryLive revealing that Coventry City have also been in talks with Manchester City over a potential deal for Egan-Riley.

Burnley are also close to sign Dan Ballard in a £2million transfer from Arsenal and Scott Twine in a £4million move from MK Dons.

A new-look Burnley…

Kompany was only appointed as Burnley boss 10 days ago. But already he looks to have two Manchester City youngsters close to signing on loan, and two exciting youngsters in Ballard and Twine arriving.

It’ll make for a fine start to life at Turf Moor and it’ll surely give Clarets fans optimism ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Kompany now needs to sort out potential departees and perhaps bring in a striker who will score goals for Burnley next time round.

All in all, Egan-Riley looks set to become one of several impressive signings for Kompany in his first summer as Burnley boss.
