Sheffield United will be hoping to make some impressive acquisitions in Paul Heckingbottom’s first summer transfer window in charge at Bramall Lane.
Sheffield United’s play-off heartbreak will only fuel their desire to earn a return to the Premier League this time around.
The Blades will need some new additions though and with none made yet, it will be hoped that ground can be made up on the pursuit of their transfer targets in the coming weeks.
One player recently linked with a move to Bramall Lane is Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville.
The Athletic (via Leeds Live) has said that Sheffield United are alongside Nottingham Forest in showing interest in the flying Dutchman. He looks to be a promising talent for the future but given that Jesse Marsch has already tipped Summerville to be an ‘important’ player for the club in the future, it looks as though a loan deal is more likely than a permanent one.
Another reported target is Scott Twine, who is coming off the back of a stunning season in League One with MK Dons.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder managed 20 goals and 13 assists in 44 League One games in the 2021/22 campaign and has already been linked with the likes of Hull City and Burnley. A battle for his signature looks to be on, and the Blades could be amongst it.
Last but not least, Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle is another rumoured to be on Sheffield United’s radar. The 32-year-old has starred in the Championship before during spells with the Magpies, West Brom and Peterborough United, netting 59 times in 100 second-tier games.
However, he is down the pecking order at St. James’ Park and may well head out on loan for the new season.
