Latest Lincoln City news: Defender set for Championship move, Imps eyeing free agent + more

Lincoln City go into the next season under a new manager in Mark Kennedy.

The former Birmingham City coach was installed as the Imps’ new boss following Michael Appleton’s departure at the end of last season.

He’s already brought in both Charles Vernam and Paudie O’Connor on free transfers, making for a good start to the summer transfer window.

And another name who could move to the LNER this summer is Mikel Miller.

The 26-year-old attacker was used sparingly by Rotherham United last season, featuring 23 times in League One but racking up seven goal contributions.

He’s set to become a free agent and Lincoln City are said to be one of a number of League One clubs keen on signing him.

Elsewhere, Sky Sport reporter Lyall Thomas revealed earlier this week that the Millers have triggered Cohen Bramall’s £200,000 release clause, and that the full-back had a medical with Rotherham United scheduled for Tuesday.

Lastly, the 2022/23 English Football League fixture list has been released.

Lincoln City start their upcoming campaign at home to Exeter City before then heading down to the south coast to face Portsmouth in their first away game of the campaign.

The Imps travel to Doncaster Rovers in their opening Carabao Cup game in August too.

Kennedy has plenty of work to do this summer to continue the work done by Appleton in the past two seasons.

Lincoln City undoubtedly struggled last time round and they look set to lose some key players over the next few weeks, but a few more strong signings and the Imps could be competing at the top end of League One next season.
