Important Middlesbrough man on the radar of Manchester United

Middlesbrough head of football Kieran Scott has admirers at Manchester United, according to a report from The Daily Mail.

Middlesbrough only acquired the services of Scott in September last year, yet he has already been linked to Burnley and now Manchester United.

The Teessiders didn’t have a head of football prior to Scott’s arrival, and he has made some shrewd signings since arriving at the Riverside.

He oversees recruitment and so the loan captures of Aaron Connolly and Folarin Balogun from Premier League sides Brighton and Hove Albion and Arsenal were his doing.

After his successes as head of recruitment at Norwich City prior to making the switch to Middlesbrough, signing the likes of Emi Buendia and Teemu Pukki, he attempted to look into the overseas market again, signing Andraz Sporar, James Lea Siliki, and Martin Payero last summer.

Boro are looking to rebuild their squad this summer in a bid of achieving a place in the division’s top six. Manager Chris Wilder has talked about ‘big name players’ coming into the club, and Scott will be at the centre of those negotiations.

It is easy to see why he is such a sought after figure, with admirers at Premier League giants Manchester United.

The Red Devils are looking to revamp their recruitment operations and have identified former Liverpool ‘transfer guru’ Michael Edwards as their main person of interest, along with Brentford’s director of recruitment Lee Dykes and Middlesbrough’s Scott also on their shortlist.

They face competition when it comes to appointing Edwards as their next sporting director with Chelsea also keen. If the Bllues snap up the in-demand ex-Reds man ahead of Manchester United, Erik ten Hag’s side may then turn their attention to Scott if they feel he fits the bill.
