Burnley bid accepted for former Millwall defender

Burnley have had a £2 million offer accepted by Arsenal for centre-back Daniel Ballard, according to a report from Football Insider.

Burnley are set to get their first Championship campaign for six years underway in just over a months time, and will be looking to bounce back at the first time of asking.

With a new manager at the helm in Premier League legend Vincent Kompany, supporters of the Clarets will be hoping the Belgian can use his connections in the transfer market to give themselves every chance of promotion.

Having lost their first choice centre-back duo in Ben Mee and James Tarkowski, this position looks to be the most in need of work. There are also rumours linking Nathan Collins to a move back to the top flight with the likes of Wolves and Leeds United interested.

But as the report from Football Insider reveals, Burnley have had a bid accepted for Daniel Ballard to help rectify their lack of options at the back.

The 22-year-old has EFL experience having had successful spells away from the Emirates with both Blackpool and Millwall in the past two seasons, and with Swindon Town before that.

He has also played for the Northern Ireland national side. Since making his debut back in 2020 he has gone on to make a total of 15 appearances for the Green and White Army, and has scored two goals during that time.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had ‘given the green light’ for Ballard to leave the Premier League giants, and now that their asking price of £2 million has been met, the defender will be able to discuss personal terms ahead of a potential move to Turf Moor this summer.
