Presenting the inside scoop on the latest Football League news

Blackburn Rovers linked with 3 potential new signings ahead of July including ‘Championship quality’ Portsmouth ace

Blackburn Rovers will be hoping their new era under Jon Dahl Tomasson can get off to a strong start with a productive summer transfer window.

Tomasson is yet to make his first signing since his arrival at Ewood Park. However, there’s no doubt that the Dane and new director of football Gregg Broughton will be working tirelessly with the recruitment team to kick their summer window into action.

Although a new addition is yet to come through the door, one player who has been linked with Rovers in recent weeks is Todd Cantwell.

The Norwich City midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan with Bournemouth and ahead of the new season, The Sun has claimed that he has emerged as an ambitious target for Blackburn Rovers. Although his time with the Cherries failed to inspire and while he hasn’t quite hit the heights expected of him yet, Cantwell has starred at Championship level before and could certainly be a statement signing.

Another player mentioned as a target since Tomasson’s arrival is Bosnian defender Anel Ahmedhodzic.

The new Blackburn Rovers boss managed the former Nottingham Forest youngster during his time in charge of Malmo. It is said that a permanent move to recent loan club is unlikely while a stay in Sweden is also not on the cards, potentially opening the door for the Rovers target to move on.

Finally, long-term target Marcus Harness has been linked with Rovers once again amid Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley’s admission that they will be ‘open-minded’ over the futures of both Harness and Ronan Curtis this summer.

It is said that Blackburn Rovers have been alerted by the fresh development and with Cowley previously touting the winger as a ‘Championship quality’ talent, it will be interesting to see if the door opens for him to make the step up this summer.
