Reporter says Sheffield United are interested in 20-goal talent, Burnley and Hull City have already made bids

YorkshireLive reporter Nathan Hemmingham has confirmed that Sheffield United are interested in MK Dons’ Scott Twine.

Twine, 22, prevailed with MK Dons in League One last season. He scored 20 goals and assisted 13 more in the league and was eventually named League One Player of the Season.

And he’s been linked with a number of Championship clubs so far this summer.

It’s recently been revealed that both Hull City and Burnley have made bids of £3million and £4million respectively for Twine, but MK Dons boss Liam Manning says that the club are yet to receive any offers that match their valuation of the player.

There’s been no official reports crediting Sheffield United with an interest in Twine as of yet. But responding to fan questions, YorkshireLive reporter Hemmingham says that the Blades do have an interest in Twine.

He wrote:

“There is interest in him and he was on their radar but they haven’t made a bid as it stands.”

Sheffield United often start the summer transfer window slower than others. But it’s recently been revealed that the Blades have tabled a seven-figure bid for an unnamed player and so it looks like Paul Heckingbottom and his recruitment team are getting to work.

But that bid isn’t for Twine as Hemmingham says that the club are yet to bid for the MK Dons man.

A potentially huge signing…

Whoever lands Twine this summer will have a really great player on their hands.

But given Manning’s recent comments, it seems like whoever wants to sign Twine will need to fork out in excess of £4million.

Whether or not Sheffield United have the kind of funding to spend that much on one player remains to be seen, and the same can be said of Hull City ad Burnley although they’re clearly more invested in this transfer pursuit as it stands.

Heckingbottom and Sheffield United impressed last season but this summer, the squad needs a bit of a revamp to remain in competitive in the 2022/23 season.
