Departing Charlton Athletic forward agrees to join new club

Charlton Athletic’s departing striker Hady Ghandour has agreed to join National League side Maidstone United, it has been confirmed.

Charlton Athletic confirmed the departure of a number of academy graduates earlier this summer, with Ghandour among those let go.

The decision comes after two first-team appearances for the Addicks and has left the door open for him to head for pastures new. Now, it has been confirmed that the 22-year-old will be heading for familiar surroundings.

As announced on the National League club’s official website, Maidstone United have brought Ghandour in on a permanent basis.

It comes after two separate loan spells with the Stones during the 2021/22 campaign and now, the departing Charlton Athletic attacker will be joining the club on a permanent basis.

Ghandour signs permanently as Maidstone United prepare for life back in the National League after winning the National League South title last time around.

A fresh start away from the Addicks

It seems a summer departure for Ghandour works best for all parties.

The Lebanon international is at the age where he will be looking to cement his place in senior football and it seemed that he wasn’t going to be making the jump to the first-team at The Valley, so a free transfer exit allows him to kick on elsewhere.

Given his previous spells on loan with Maidstone United, it won’t take Ghandour too long to adjust to life after Charlton Athletic, returning to familiar surroundings in a bid to kick his senior career into action.
