3 players linked with Preston North End who could realistically sign this summer

Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe has begun his summer makeover at Deepdale with Freddie Woodman becoming signing number one.

North End has been working hard behind the scenes to make sure that the recruitment is done correctly this summer.

With MRKT Insights linking up with the club to give more data and in-depth analysis of players, Preston will hope to use this as their advantage when recruiting players that will fit with the current wage structure.

There has been plenty of names linked to Preston North End thus far and many fans are anticipating a fantastic season ahead judging by the potential incomings.

So, which players amongst the linked names could we see sign for North End this summer?

We now look at three players who have been linked with a move to Deepdale, and if they are realistic for the club to sign…

Cameron Archer

Preston North End have already made contact with Aston Villa to ask about a potential reunion with Archer this summer, Peter Ridsdale has admitted (From The Finney Podcast via Birmingham Live).

Archer cemented himself as a fan favourite at Deepdale while on loan last season, with his scintillating solo performances and a derby-day winning goal against Blackpool making his time at the club a memorable one.

The question that remains is, are Aston Villa willing to loan out Archer again. Manager Steven Gerrard is keen to see how Archer fares in pre-season before making a decision on his immediate future.

However, if Archer is given the green light to go out on loan again, Preston North End will surely fancy their chances of a deal..

Dane Scarlett

Scarlett is a name that has been mentioned as a potential loan target for North End this summer. It has been said that Spurs are set to open the door for the youngster to head out on loan to pick up more senior game time after penning a long-term senior deal.

Lowe’s Lilywhites are on the lookout for a new striker to partner Emil Riis for the new season and Scarlett could well be that man. He has various attributes already in his game that would work in Lowe’s system so this move would make a lot of sense.

Cameron Brannagan

Brannagan has been a name mentioned earlier on in this window, with The Sun reporting that North End had joined the race for the Oxford midfielder.

A central midfielder by trade, Brannagan could be seen as an option to play as a wing-back in Lowe’s system.

Lowe has had the experience transforming central midfielders into wing-backs to fit his style of play. Joe Edwards at Plymouth Argyle was made to play at wing-back and now Brad Potts at Deepdale. His high passing rate and creativity in the final third make Brannagan a name to look out for, be it out wide or through the middle.
