Norwich City midfielder set to complete permanent EFL move

Norwich City midfielder Daniel Adshead is set to join Cheltenham Town for an undisclosed fee, according to Gloucestershire Live.

Norwich City recruited Adshead from Rochdale back in the summer of 2019, signing him as a prospect for the future.

He had impressed in his breakthrough campaign with the Dale but is yet to make his senior debut for the Canaries. Adshead has spent time out on loan with SC Telstar and Gillingham while picking up game time with Norwich City’s U23s but now, he seems to be heading for the exit.

According to Gloucestershire Live, Adshead is set to become Cheltenham Town’s first summer signing.

It is claimed that the 20-year-old met his new teammates on Monday and trained on the first day of pre-season and will be joining for an undisclosed fee.

Business as usual

The report states that the Robins are pressing on with their recruitment plans as usual despite the departure of Michael Duff.

Work is being done to find a replacement for the new Barnsley boss, of course. However, the fact that Cheltenham Town aren’t losing focus on the need for new recruits will be reassuring for supporters heading into the new season.

Adshead could prove to be a smart acqusition as well.

Although his time with Norwich City hasn’t beared much fruit, he remains an intriguing prospect and still has plenty of time to maximise his potential.

He has 26 League One appearances to his name so will know what to expect from the division should he become Cheltenham Town’s first summer signing.
