Middlesbrough confirm second summer loan departure

Middlesbrough have confirmed that goalkeeper Zach Hemming has re-joined Kilmarnock on a season-long loan.

Middlesbrough have already allowed fellow goalkeeper Joe Lumley to join Reading on loan, and now Hemming has followed his counterpart out of the exit door on a temporary basis.

Dejan Stojanovic has left the club permanently to join Jahn Regensburg, leaving just Luke Daniels and Sol Brynn as available goalkeepers.

The latter is expected to join Swindon Town in the coming weeks, meaning Boro are desperately looking to sign a first-choice keeper ahead of pre-season.

Boro are willing to listen to offers for Daniels too, meaning all five aforementioned keepers could be loaned out or sold.

Hemming re-joins Kilmarnock after a successful spell at Rugby Park last season. He won the club’s Young Player of the Year award as he helped Killie to the Scottish Championship league title and promotion to the top flight.

He will likely come back into the starting eleven in a bid to prove himself at a higher level, this time playing the likes of Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers.

In 36 Scottish Championship appearances last term Hemming kept 15 clean sheets and conceded just 26 goals. He was recalled from his loan spell at the conclusion of the league season in Scotland to train with the Middlesbrough first-team.

At just 22-years-old he has a bright future ahead of him and if he impresses in his upcoming loan spell he could work his way into the first-team plans at the Riverside in the not too distant future.
