Latest Millwall news: Rowett’s exciting transfer claim, Lions join hunt for EFL talent + more

Millwall’s summer ahead could be a busy one, as Gary Rowett gears up for a fourth season in charge of the Lions.

Millwall came close to securing a spot in the top-six last season. They took it down to the final day of the campaign but couldn’t beat Bournemouth to give themselves a chance of finishing inside the play-off places.

Nevertheless, the club will go again next season and fans will be hopeful of seeing some fresh faces walk through the door this summer, especially with star man Jed Wallace looking as though he’s on his way out.

He remains out of contract at the end of this month and reports over the weekend claimed that Burnley are now keen on the midfielder, as well as West Brom.

But Millwall could find a like-for-like replacement in Jack Rudoni.

The AFC Wimbledon man scored 12 goals and assisted five in League One last season and reports have added Millwall to the growing list of teams interested in him.

And Rudoni could be a player that Rowett has in his sights after the Lions boss revealed that his side have tabled two bids – both exceeding their current transfer record fee of £1.5million.

He told London News Online:

“There are a lot of good players that we’ve been in discussion with. What I would say is the club are prepared to put some good offers out – we’ve put two bids at the moment that would probably be bigger than our record signing.”

Lastly, reports at the end of last week revealed that Millwall are still keen on the potential loan signing of Newcastle United youngster Elliot Anderson this summer.

Despite the potential loss of Wallace, this summer looks as though it could be a really positive one for Millwall, and the 2022/23 season could finally be the season where they claim a top-six finish.
