Coventry City set to complete swoop for Championship midfielder imminently

Coventry City are set to complete a deal for Bristol City man Kasey Palmer imminently, Football Insider has reported.

Coventry City have been heavily linked with a move for Palmer this summer.

Bristol Live reported earlier this month that the former Chelsea midfielder was poised to linked up with the Sky Blues ahead of the new season after being cleared to make a move away from Bristol City.

Now, a report from Football Insider has claimed the move is set to be announced imminently.

Palmer has undergone a medical with the Robins’ Championship rivals ahead of his free transfer move. A full agreement is reportedly in place and now, it seems all is left is for the deal to be made official by the respective clubs.

A fresh start awaits

Having dropped out of favour under Nigel Pearson, it seems a summer departure is best for all parties.

Palmer will be determined to play significantly more football after featuring only eight times over the 2021/22 campaign, chipping in with one goal and one assist in the process.

There were promising points in his three-and-a-half-year stay at Ashton Gate, joining permanently in August 2019 after spending the second half of the 2018/19 season on loan with the club. However, after eight goals and seven assists in 79 outings, all parties involved would have been hoping for more from the 2019 deal.

Now though, a move to Coventry City presents Palmer with a chance to start afresh under Mark Robins. The Sky Blues boss will be keen to maximise Palmer’s potential and get the best out of him at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
