MK Dons are closing in on a deal to sign Gillingham’s departing centre-back Jack Tucker, journalist Alan Nixon has reported on his Patreon.
Tucker has been highly sought-after this summer, with a move away from Gillingham on the horizon.
His deal expires soon and Neil Harris has already admitted a departure looks likely.
Swansea City, Reading, Charlton Athletic and Bolton Wanderers are among those to have been linked with a swoop for the centre-back in the summer transfer window, but it now seems MK Dons are looking to close out a deal.
The Sun journalist Nixon has reported on his Patreon that Liam Manning’s side are set to win the fight for his signature as they close in on a deal for the centre-back.
Should a move go through, MK Dons will only have to pay a training compensation fee to Gillingham to acquire Tucker’s services, with no transfer fee required given his contract situation.
A statement signing…
Tucker stood out for Gillingham despite their struggles last season and given the rival interest in his services, MK Dons will be over the moon if they can get a deal over the line.
He has already proven his ability at League One level and with a vast amount of experience to his name despite his youth, the Dons will be hoping he can kick on and settle in quickly under Manning.
Tucker has plenty of room to develop his game at the age of only 22 as well, making him an exciting addition not only for the present but for years to come too.
