Scottish Premiership side Hearts are leading the race for Peterborough United’s transfer-listed midfielder Jorge Grant, it has been reported.
Peterborough United decided to transfer list the 27-year-old earlier this summer, leaving the door open for him to find a new club after struggling to make an impact in his first season with the club.
He arrived after another starring season in League One with Lincoln City but wasn’t afforded much game time and doesn’t figure in Grant McCann’s plans moving forward.
Since then, it has been reported that Scottish Premiership side Hearts have already seen a bid rejected for the midfielder.
However, despite seeing an offer knocked back, it is the Tynecastle side that are favourites for his signature.
According to The Daily Telegraph reporter Mike McGrath, Hearts are the side ‘firmly leading the race’ to acquire Grant’s services this summer.

A contentious decision…
Opinion was split among the Posh faithful when it was confirmed that Grant would be made available for transfer this summer.
By all means, he struggled to make an impact in the Championship last season. He managed two goals and three assists in 29 games and fell down the pecking order under McCann’s management.
However, there’s no doubting just how dangerous his creativity has been in previous League One campaigns. He starred during his time with Lincoln City, operating either as an attacking midfielder or a central midfielder, and he could replicate that previous success again if given the chance.
The decision to let him go could come back to bite Posh as he may well succeed elsewhere. But, if he won’t be afforded regular game time at London Road, it’s best for all that the club and the player part ways this summer.
