Reading offer John Swift new three-year contract

Reading have offered John Swift a new three-year deal, reports BerkshireLive.

Swift, 26, has looked set to leave Reading all season. His contract is out next month, and reports have linked him closely with a move to West Brom this summer.

The Baggies are looking to bolster their ranks with some creativity this summer and reports have recently suggested that Steve Bruce’s side are confident of getting a deal over the line for Swift.

Now though, BerkshireLive report that the Royals have tabled a new three-year contract offer to Swift.

The report goes on to write that Swift’s representatives have been ‘impressed’ by the club’s new head of football, former manager Mark Bowen, but that Swift is currently on holiday and so a decision won’t be made in a hurry.

A blow for the Baggies…

West Brom look to be gearing up for a really busy summer. There’s been plenty of rumours and plenty of talk about potential new signings but so far, the Baggies have been relatively quiet.

Bruce might be playing his cards close to his chest for the time being, waiting to see how certain situations like Swift’s at Reading unfold before he makes a move.

But Bruce and West Brom might have to move now if they’re to get their man – Swift is certainly a player with great Championship qualities and he’d be a really keen signing for the club.

But if he remains at Reading then it’ll certainly come as a blow to the Baggies and to any other clubs who might be paying attention to his situation.
