‘The simple answer is…’ – QPR man Dominic Ball provides update on his absence from the side

Dominic Ball signed for QPR on a free transfer at the start of July 2019.

Prior to signing for the R’s, Ball had enjoyed a career that kicked off when breaking through at Spurs. His time there didn’t see him make that final break into the first team at the North London club.

His time since leaving Spurs in 2016 had seen him enjoy loan spells at the likes of SPL sides Rangers and Aberdeen as well as Peterborough United.

Dominic Ball’s time at QPR

Since signing on at the Kiyan Prince Stadium, Ball has gone on to make 98 appearances for QPR – scoring two goals and laying on three assists.

And 22 of those appearances (one assist) have come in this season’s Sky Bet Championship campaign. His last time on the pitch came in late February in the 2-1 win against Blackpool.

Indeed, Ball has only made the matchday squad in just one of QPR’s last five games – appearing on the bench for the 3-1 home loss against Peterborough United.

This has obviously sparked questions from QPR fans and this in turn has led to the following tweets from defensive midfielder Ball himself:

Thoughts on Ball’s absence?

QPR’s recent form has been a little short of terrible – the London side have lost five of their last six matches.

This tumbling form has seen them drop out of the play-off picture and the R’s are now 9th in the Championship table on 59 points. This is not disastrous; they are still only three points and goal difference outside the top six.

They have just six games to rescue a play-off place. They haven’t been doing it with the players that they have been fielding recently.

Ball says that he is fighting fit and raring to go, should he be given the nod. With six games left to play, QPR will need all hands on deck to push for that coveted top-six spot.
