Ipswich Town are in advanced talks over a loan deal for Brighton and Hove Albion shot-stopper Christian Walton, according to reports.
The East Anglian Daily Times has stated Paul Cook is looking to bring another shot-stopper in before the end of the month, with Christian Walton emerging on his radar.
The Sun on Sunday (29.08.21, pg. 61) revealed that Brighton and Hove Albion are willing to send the 25-year-old ‘keeper out on loan, with Robert Sanchez holding down the number one spot at the AMEX.
Reports have stated that Ipswich Town’s discussions over a deal are at an advanced stage, so it awaits to be seen if an agreement can be reached over a temporary move to Portman Road.
Town’s goalkeeping situation
As it stands, Ipswich have summer signing Vaclav Hladky and Tomas Holy available as options in between the sticks.
However, former Salford City man Hladky has struggled to impress since his move to the League One side, prompting Cook to look into bringing in a new shot-stopper.
Ipswich Town are not the only side said to be showing interest in a loan deal for Walton.
Earlier this week, it was reported by Football Insider that Championship duo Nottingham Forest and Derby County were both looking into the possibility of bringing the Brighton man in.
Those links are yet to develop into anything more serious, but it will be interesting to see how the situation pans out as we enter the final days of the summer window.
