Swindon Town strike deal with Bristol City for 24 y/o

Bristol City goalkeeper Joe Wollacott has extended his stay at Swindon Town, as per BBC Wiltshire Sport on Twitter (see tweet below).

The Robins have secured his services for another seven days on loan.

Wollacott, who is 24 years old, has been allowed to leave Bristol City to get some game time at the County Ground. He will play for John Sheridan’s side this weekend against Crewe Alexandra.

Swindon moved into the emergency loan market to sign him last week after AFC Bournemouth recalled Mark Travers.

Wollacott was due to make his debut against Bristol Rovers but his new sides’ clash against the Pirates was postponed. However, he will make his first start against the Railwaymen on Saturday.

The goalkeeping department has been a problem position for Sheridan’s side this season, with a loan move for Manchester United’s Matej Kovar not working out during the first-half of the campaign.

Wollacott has been on the books at Bristol City for his whole career to date but has never made a senior appearance for the Championship side.

However, he has gained plenty of experience out on loan with the likes of Weymouth, Bath City, Truro City, Gloucester City and Forest Green Rovers in the past.

Swindon are currently sat in 22nd place in League One but a win this weekend against Crewe could see them rise out of the relegation zone.
