Bluebirds boss McCarthy has confirmed the 27-year-old has returned to training ahead of this weekend’s game.
The Cardiff City boss added he hopes Williams can stay fit for the rest of the campaign as they chase a spot in the Championship play-odds. Speaking to Wales Online, he said:
“Jonny Williams trained, Sheyi Ojo trained, so we’ve got those guys out again. They trained fully today, they’ll be OK [for Saturday].
“He was really looking forward himself to getting a Cardiff City shirt on. It’s just one of those things. He took a bang, nothing he can do about it. But he’s fine now, let’s hope he remains fit now for the rest of the season.”

A win against Preston could put Cardiff within three points of the play-off spots. McCarthy’s side are in a strong run of form having won their last four league games in a row.
As for Preston, Alex Neil’s side have won once in their last five, with their only three points coming against rivals Blackburn Rovers.
