Bournemouth v Nottingham Forest: Match preview, tips and odds

Bournemouth host Nottingham Forest in the Championship tonight. Jason Tindall’s side go into this one in 2nd-place of the Championship table after their impressive comeback win over Reading last time out.

Four second-half goals for the Cherries saw them knock the Royals off the top-spot and move up into the automatic promotion places.

Forest meanwhile are struggling – under new manager Chris Hughton they’ve had a slow rebuild, and a 2-0 defeat at Barnsley last time out leaves them in 20th-place going into these midweek fixtures. If you do fancy them to win at huge prices, find up-to-date odds on football at SportsBet.

Tindall’s team go into tomorrow night as the division’s joint second-highest scorers having scored 19 goals in their opening 12.

Four of those came in the second-half v Reading last time out – coming from two goals down for the first time since December 2016, and winning their second match in-a-row with by two goals.

They’ve one of the most potent front-threes in the league forming up in David Brooks, Dominic Solanke and Arnaut Danjuma – the trio have scored 11 goals between them this season.

It’s enabled Bournemouth to rack up more than 2.5 goals in four of their Championship fixtures this season, averaging 1.58 goals per game.

Forest, despite their lowly league position, won’t be heading to Bournemouth with a lack of scoring confidence – they’ve found the net just nine times in the Championship this season but have scored first in two of their last three outings.

What’s more is that Forest haven’t conceded a first-half goal in any of their last four fixtures.

Inconsistency is proving to be Forest’s downfall – they’ve claimed good wins over the likes of Coventry City and Wycombe Wanderers of late, but gave Barnsley a routine home win last time out.

Having claimed just one away win in their last 12 in all competitions, Forest will be up against it tomorrow night. What’s more is that, as a manager, Hughton has only won one of seven fixtures against the Cherries.

Tips and prediction

A high-scoring, free-flowing Bournemouth side coming up against an astute, but inconsistent Forest side – no result will come as too much of a surprise tomorrow, but it’s hard to see Forest keeping Bournemouth at bay.

A solid bet might be over 1.5 goals in the game – these will likely go the way of Bournemouth, and backing them to win at current odds of 1.75 is a solid shout.

Don’t expect goals galore though. Forest can up the ante when they want but they’re still struggling to score, especially on the road.
