‘Knockdown fee’ Leeds United can sign Liverpool Wilson in ‘bargain’ deal

With Lady Luck behind them, Leeds United could return to the Premier League next season after a 16-year absence. In gaining promotion, thoughts will turn to team remodelling. Football Insider reports that one name on their mind is Liverpool’s talented forward Harry Wilson.

Wilson is currently on loan at Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Bournemouth. The 23-year-old Welshman has featured in 23 games for the Cherries and has scored six goals. He also has two assists in two FA Cup games for the South coast side.

However, Wilson is best known to Leeds United and their fans for his scintillating loan spell at Derby County last season. This was a season-long loan from the Reds where he scored 18 goals and provided six assists across 50 games.

Now Football Insider’s Wayne Veysey writes that “Leeds United can sign Liverpool dazzler Harry Wilson for a knockdown fee this summer.” This statement by Veysey comes amidst the upheaval caused by the coronavirus pandemic which is expected to send transfer valuations tumbling.

Veysey adds that Liverpool is: “expected to listen to permanent offers” for the exciting winger and notes that Leeds United have been linked with loan deals the last two summers. In those summers, Leeds have lost out to Derby and Bournemouth and have seen him turn in fantastic seasons.

Marcelo Bielsa is said to be an admirer of Wilson and that admiration will go a long way at Elland Road. The legendary Argentinian coach would no doubt improve on what Wilson would offer Leeds United; you only need look at the reinvention of Kalvin Phillips for proof of that.

With the £25million valuation placed on him by Liverpool said to be looking shakey in these uncertain times, maybe this summer would be the best time to grasp the nettle.
