Could Sunderland target ex-Bolton Wanderers man from Nottingham Forest?

Nottingham forest forward ZacH cLOUGH IS A PLAYER SUNDERLAND manager PHIL PARKINSON KNOWS WELL.

The Black Cats’ boss managed the 25 year old at Bolton Wanderers four years ago.

Clough has fallen out-of-favour at Nottingham Forest in the Championship and could seek a move away this summer. Could Parkinson try and bring him to the Stadium of Light?

The Manchester-born forward still has a year left on his contract at the City Ground but is way down the pecking order with Sabri Lamouchi’s side.

Clough joined Forest in January 2017 for a fee of around £3 million but has struggled to make an impact there. He has been loaned back out to Bolton and Rochdale since his move.

He started his career at Bolton and rose up through the youth ranks of the North-West outfit. He went onto make 68 appearances for the Trotters and chipped in with 22 goals as a youngster.

Clough was tipped for a very bright future in his early career and needs to leave Forest to get back on track this summer.

Sunderland would be an ideal destination for him. They face the prospect of a third straight campaign in League One next term and will be in the hunt for signings over the coming months.

Clough has proven himself in the third tier in the past and could help the Black Cats get back to where they belong.

There could be a few clubs monitoring his situation this summer, but Sunderland should be at the front of the queue.
