Shankland, Nottingham Forest and Stoke City chasing Scottish hotshot

Nottingham Forest and Stoke City chasing Scottish hotshot

Nottingham Forest and Stoke City are interested in signing Dundee United’s Lawrence Shankland according to a report from the Daily Record.

The 24-year-old striker has only be at Dundee United for a year, signing from Ayr United last summer, but has already made a huge impact. He would score 24 goals in 26 games for them, a stunning tally for any player even if it was only in the Scottish Championship. And with that division’s season being ended early due to the Coronavirus pandemic, he has already been crowned as the league’s top scorer.

But this sort of form does not go without notice and two teams from the Sky Bet Championship are now in the hunt to sign him. Reports suggested that both Nottingham Forest and Stoke were interested in Shankland back in the January transfer window and are now set to reignite their interest whenever the transfer window re-opens.

It is no surprise why both teams are interested in Shankland. Not many strikers come along that have a goal rate as impressive as his and the fact he has maintained it going up the leagues in Scotland is a good sign he’ll be able to keep it up after a switch to the Championship. And with him playing for a team in the Scottish Championship, it is likely they’ll be able to tempt him with a move south of the border. A move to a big name Championship side may also help with his burgeoning international career with Scotland as well.
