Five players John Askey could sign for Port Vale this summer

John Askey may be using the break from football to identify potential transfer targets for the summer. Here are five players he could target-

Danny Whitehead, Salford City- Askey managed the midfielder at Macclesfield Town and may move for him over the coming months. Whitehead, who is 26 years old, has played for the likes of Stockport County, West Ham United and Wigan Athletic in the past.

Mitch Hancox, Solihull Moors- He played a key part in Askey’s Macc side who won the National League title in 2018 and earned a move to MK Dons. However, he now finds himself back in non-league. Could Port Vale hand him a route back into the Football League?

Arthur Gnahoua, Macclesfield Town- The pacey winger has been a shining light for the Silkmen during difficult times for the Cheshire side in League Two this season. Askey knows him well from his time at the helm at Moss Rose and might try and bring him to Vale Park.

Nathan Thomas, Sheffield United- He will leave Bramall Lane on a permanent basis this summer with his contract expiring. The winger has impressed on loan in the fourth tier at Carlisle United and will have a number of clubs monitoring his situation. Askey signed him on loan for Shrewsbury Town a couple of seasons ago.
