Middlesbrough will have to make some decisions on players who are out of contract in June. Here are five-
Daniel Ayala- The Spanish defender is currently in his seventh season at the Riverside Stadium but is yet to pen a new deal. He has been a key player for Boro and helped them gain promotion to the Premier League under Aitor Karanka in 2016.
Jonny Howson- Jonathan Woodgate will be eager to tie the experienced midfielder down on a fresh contract. The former Leeds United and Norwich City man has been a useful player since joining the club in July 2017.
George Friend- He is entering the final months of his current deal after eight years with Boro. The 32 year old has made over 250 appearances for the club and is a fans’ favourite at the Riverside. Will they extend his stay?
Marvin Johnson- Boro signed him from Oxford United in 2017 and he put pen-to-paper on a three-year contract. He struggled for game time in his first year and was loaned out to Sheffield United last term. It is only in this campaign that he is enjoy more regular action but his future hangs in the balance at the moment.
Rudy Gestede- The big striker may be set to leave on a free transfer this summer. Boro will look to cut costs again over the coming months and the man they signed in the Premier League may have to weigh up his options.
