Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Anthony Georgiou links up with Bolton Wanderers

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Anthony Georgiou has started training with Bolton Wanderers, as per their official club website.

The Cyprus international joined the Trotters on loan in the January transfer window and has now been given the green light by Spurs to start training with Keith Hill’s side after recovering from injury.

Georgiou, who is 23 years old, had his first training session with the League One side yesterday and is in contention to finally make his debut this weekend against AFC Wimbledon.

The midfielder spent the first half of this campaign in the third tier at Ipswich Town and made 13 appearances for the Tractor Boys in all competitions.

He started his career in the academy at Watford before switching to Spurs as a youngster in 2013. He was a key player for their youth sides before making his first-team debut for the London side in a Champions League tie against APOEL in September 2017.

Georgiou gained his first taste of regular senior football when he was shipped out on loan to Levante’s B team in January 2019. He signed a new deal at Tottenham on his return from Spain and was then loaned to Portman Road last summer.

Despite Bolton’s likely relegation to League Two this season, they will still provide Georgiou with a good opportunity to get some game time under his belt between now and the end of the season. It will also be a boost for Hill’s side to have a new face in the squad as well.
