Reports from Sky Sports suggest that Wigan Defender Antonee Robinson is set to join AC Milan for a huge fee of £10,000,000.
The USA international joined Wigan in the summer from Premier League side Everton where he came through the ranks. The defender joined for a fee around £2,000,000 so it would be a healthy profit for the North West outfit.
The 22-year-old full back has made 30 appearances for The Latics this season and has scored 1 goal. Robinson also made his full USA international debut in 2018.
This deal has come up as quite a shock with the European giants being linked to Robinson and with the size of the price tag also. AC Milan are in the market for a new left back after letting Ricardo Rodriguez join PSV Eindhoven.
Robinson will have competition should this deal go through, as AC Milan have Theo Hernandez in their ranks meaning he could only be a backup option.
With less than 48 hours left of the January transfer window, this would leave Wigan in a last minute panic to try and sign a new left back to replace Robinson, but the size of the fee is too much for Wigan to turn down.
Wigan have struggled with life in the Championship this season as Paul Cook’s side are currently 22nd and could potentially face relegation come the end of the season, and it will be made harder for Paul Cook if he loses one of his best players in Robinson.
