Hull City sign midfielder Martin Samuelsen from West Ham United

Hull City have signed Martin Samuelsen from West Ham United, as announced by their official club website this morning.

The midfielder has signed a two-and-a-half year deal at the KCOM Stadium, with the club holding an option for a further year.

Samuelsen, who is 22 years old, worked under the Tigers’ boss Grant McCann during a loan spell at Peterborough United in 2017.

He has been allowed to leave West Ham on a permanent basis after five years with the London side. He made two first team appearances for the Hammers but spent most of his time at the club out on loan.

Samuelsen has had loan spells at Peterborough, Blackburn Rovers, Burton Albion, VVV Venlo and most recently Haugesund.

The Norway international is now looking forward to new chapter with his career at Hull and has told their website: “I’m really excited to be here. It was an easy decision to join Hull City, especially so with the Club’s recent history.”

“The manager was also a big factor. I know him well from my time on loan at Peterborough earlier in my career. He was a big influence on me during my time there and I’m looking forward to working with him again. I can’t wait to get going.”

Samuelsen could make his debut for the Yorkshire side this weekend when they travel to Pride Park to face Derby County. The Tigers will be looking to close the gap on the Play-Offs.
