Huddersfield Town agree loan deal for Arsenal starlet Smith-Rowe – medical to take place

According to a report from Football Insider, Huddersfield Town are set to complete a deal to sign youngster Emile Smith-Rowe on loan from Arsenal for the rest of the season, with a medical set to take place.

Danny Cowley’s first transfer window as Huddersfield Town manager is underway and before the end of the month, he is looking to bring in some new faces and move some players on to put his mark on his squad. The Terriers are yet to make their first signing but have loaned out duo Reece Brown and Ryan Schofield to Peterborough United and Livingston respectively.

However, it seems that Huddersfield could make their first signing of the January transfer window imminently. A report from Football Insider has said that the club has agreed on a deal to sign Arsenal youngster Emile Smith-Rowe on loan for the rest of the Championship season.

Smith-Rowe – who can play on either the left or right-wing as well as in attacking midfield – has been allowed to leave the club on loan for the rest of the season to get some more senior experience under his belt, having made just six appearances so far this season.

The 19-year-old has made his way through the Arsenal academy, impressing for the club’s Under-18s and Under-23s side before making his breakthrough into the senior squad last season. Smith-Rowe made six appearances for the Gunners in the first half of the season before heading to Germany to join RB Leipzig on loan for the second half of the campaign, playing three times for the club.

Now, with a move to Huddersfield reportedly close to completion, it will be interesting to see if he impresses under Cowley should a move go through as planned.
