Bolton Wanderers to hold contract talks with Adam Chicksen, ex-Charlton Athletic and Bradford City defender

Bolton Wanderers will hold talks with defender Adam Chicksen over a new deal. The left-back’s current contract expires before next weekend, as per a report by the Bolton News.

Chicksen, who is 28 years old, joined Bolton on a free transfer in mid-September and has since made 17 appearances for the North-West side in all competitions.

The Zimbabwe international is an experienced full-back in the Football League and has played over 200 games.

Chicksen started his career at MK Dons and went on to make 96 appearances for their first-team, as well as having a loan spell away at Leyton Orient.

Brighton and Hove Albion signed him in July 2013 and he spent three years with the Seagulls. He was shipped out on loan to Gillingham, Fleetwood Town and Orient again before leaving on a permanent basis to sign for Charlton Athletic in August 2016.

He spent a single season at the Valley in League One before switching to Bradford City the next summer.

Chicksen played 51 times in two seasons with the Bantams but was released by the Yorkshire side after their relegation to League Two in the last campaign.

He weighed up his options over the summer and finally put pen-to-paper with Bolton after four months of being a free agent. He has been a regular starter for Keith Hill’s side and tying him down on a new contract would be a good bit of business.
