Swansea City striker wanted by Spanish pair – but there is one obstacle to potential deal

According to a report from Spanish news outlet El Desmarque, Swansea City’s Spanish striker Borja Baston is wanted by Spanish duo Deportivo La Coruna and Alaves ahead of the January transfer window, but the Swans’ asking price for the striker could prove to be an obstacle to a potential transfer.

Ahead of the 2019/20 Championship season, it seemed likely that Spanish striker Borja Baston would be making a move away from Swansea City in the January transfer window, having struggled to make an impact with the Swans during his time in South Wales.

However, Baston remained at the Liberty Stadium after a move away from the club failed to materialise and he returned to the Swansea fold. He provided an impressive goals haul in the club’s strong start to the season, netting six goals in nine appearances.

But, since his strong start to the new campaign, Borja Baston’s goals have dried up, not finding the net in his last nine while dropping out of the squad on occasion. Now, with the January transfer window just around the corner, the 27-year-old has been linked with a move away again.

Spanish sides Deportivo La Coruna and Alaves are reported to be taking an interest in Baston ahead of the transfer window, but Swansea’s asking price is said to be a possible obstacle to a move back to his home country. A loan deal is said to be the most likely outcome this January, so it will be interesting to see if it materialises.
